On Sunday, August 14, Portland Farmers Market and Umi Organic will bring a taste of the Olympics to King Farmers Market for the whole family to enjoy.
Noodle Luge—or Nagashi Somen—is a popular summer pastime in Japan, especially with kids. With a small bowl in one hand and chopsticks in the other, participants line up along a bamboo flume and try to catch noodles as they flow past—in this case, Umi Organic fresh ramen noodles. It's a challenge with a delicious reward!
Shoppers can then take the noodles they catch to a salad bar, hosted by the market, to add Umi Organic sauce and an assortment of fresh, local veggies from market vendors. The luge will run every hour for 30 to 45 minutes at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30.
