Location: Portland, Oregon
Umi Organic is a startup based in Portland, Oregon, producing organic Japanese and Asian products. We currently sell organic ramen noodles in groceries and to restaurants in Oregon and Washington and are developing a line of fresh organic Asian products featuring regional beans and grains. We are committed to values of transparency, environmental stewardship, social equity, inclusion, creativity, and fun. The 2019 season will be our fourth year in area farmers markets selling noodles, Asian sauces, and noodle bowls.
We are looking for a farmers market manager to direct our full farmers market program. This position will work independently throughout the week to prepare for the markets, managing kitchen production, including developing menus, sourcing ingredients and scheduling kitchen staff; setting up and working the markets, including hiring assistant staff to sell and sample our products and engage meaningfully with our customers; managing the farmers market bookkeeping: keeping up supplies for the market; and more.
This is a good job for someone with entrepreneurial spirit who is interested in small food startups and wants a taste of what is involved in running a local food business. It’s also a good fit for someone who loves the farmers market atmosphere and is looking for flexible work. We are especially interested in someone who loves noodles and Japanese food and cares about organic food and local farmers. There is room for culinary creativity in the noodle bowls we will sell at the market.
